The Jordan Acosta fund was created to give support to the Special Population of the West Bank of Jefferson Parish. Through collaboration with the Department of Parks and Recreation, The Loving Care (LC Club) gives citizens of the West Bank of Jefferson Parish a place to meet monthly and socialize, conducting meetings, and plan themed seasonal events.
The JPRD also organizes an annual “Spring Prom,” held at the Four Columns every April. This event invites not only members of the West Bank Community, but from the Greater New Orleans area.
The West Bank Golden Age Clubs of Jefferson Parish have annual Bunco Games to raise funds for the Jordan Acosta Foundation.
The main source of annual funds come from the annual “Afternoon at the Columns,” which is held every July at the Four Columns. This event, presented by the Mary Charlet Family and the Four Columns Staff is a wonderful fundraiser consisting of music, food, a parade of prizes, silent auction, and share the wealth. This event is supported by the Golden Age club, as well as the family and friends of the LC Club members. All proceeds from the event goes to the Jordan Acosta Foundation.
Funds raised by the event support the Special Needs Summer Camp Program, sponsoring West Bank Special Needs campers at no cost to their families. Our goal is to help as many as we possibly can and increase each year.
The Jordan Acosta Foundation hosts various other fundraising events, such as their annual Friendsgiving Dinner or Celebration in the Oaks.
Special recognitions:
The Jordan Acosta Foundation was named in honor of the son of Darrell and Desiree Acosta.
The LC Club (Loving Care) was named in honor of Lori Charlet.
